Was Frankie Mala based on Stanley Kowalski?
Apr 19 2009, 3:02 AM EDT | Post edited: May 21 2009, 9:48 PM EDT
It occurred to me that Stella's unstable boyfriend Frankie reminds quite a deal of Stanley Kowalski from "A Streetcar Named Desire," a violent, animalistic man who is physically abusive of and unworthy of his wife, Stella Kowalski.
Incidentally, Stella's first name was inspired by Stella Kowalski's.
Also, the name Frankie sounds a great deal like Stanley... Sort of.
Is this just a coincidence?

Stellata! ^_^
I'm afraid I have no solid way to confirm nor deny this, but that is an excellent observation, and I imagine it's more than likely. That's very astute of you to notice!
Nice Crime-drama Scene Investigation!! ^_^

I just found out that Gary Sinise actually played Stanley Kowalski in a stage production of A Streetcar Named Desire!
I was so excited when I found out! This is huge...
Now I'm DYING to hear him scream "STELLA!" on the show. I think I'll start a petition for him to reference it on camera (even though the producers will never read our petitions)...
