<! -- STORY STARTS BELOW -->

I was beyond excited as we deboarded the plane in New York. Em, Lil Bit, Shawnna & I were on this stellar trip to New York with one of our classes from the University. For a project we decided to make a movie with all the effects and everything. It took us a while to write the script, then put it into the correct format for tv/movies, get equipment that was good enough to handle what we wanted to do, scout out the locations for shooting. Everyone who helped with this project were students. Not one instructor or "professional". Em and I did all the directing while Shawnna, Em, Lil Bit and I did all the effects.

After making it, editing it, completing all the effects, we set it up to burn DVD's. We even made it just like the movies you buy at the stores. It turned out amazingly well. So well in fact that some of our instructors urged us to make it into a play, which is what we did for a different project. The drama professor loved our play so much he sent a video of it to a buddy of his in New York. We were going to be here for a whole month putting my play to the broadway lights 4 nights a week!! On top of all that, theres a small store in my hometown that wants to sell my DVD!

Upon reaching The Waldorf Astoria, our hotel, we were instructed to go unpack and get a little rest as we would be having dinner at an upscale restaraunt to meet with the broadway director tonight. Our first performance was in 2 days and we needed to do a run-through a few times first.

I was beyond nervous as we were all seated in this upscale restaraunt that obviously catered to the rich, snobby people. This director was paying for dinner, from what I was told, and that this could boost my career almost immediately. Mr. Davidson, the director, finally arrived earning whispers as he made his way to our table. Our instructor, Mr. Hamilton, told us all to stand up so that we could be introduced properly and to shake his hand.

Once we were all seated and had been introduced, Mr Davidson began explaining how excited he was to be putting on my play. He made me blush as he told me how much he loved what I'd come up with and that he'd passed the word around to some of his "professional acquaintances" to come and see this magnificent play.

After dinner as we were standing outside awaiting the limo to take us back to the hotel, we ran into Jerry Bruckheimer (creator of all the CSI shows). I could only stare in disbelief, as CSI (all 3) were my favorite show of all time. Jerry promised he would make the show in 3 days and said he was looking forward to seeing the piece that Mr. Davidson could not quit talking about.

** FFW TO THE OPENING NIGHT OF THE PLAY **

I was soooooo nervous as I got dressed into the first outfit I was to wear this evening before putting on the specially made mask for this. My big brother thought it was funny how I incorporated a mask into this, especially since he wears one for his job too.

"Calm down chicky. We've done this before. If this play wasn't good, we wouldn't be doing it in New York!" Em stated when she saw how nervous I was.

"You realize we actually have celebrities and very important people in the audience tonight?! Such as the creators of my favorite fucking show!!" I retorted, feeling myself start to shake

I wasn't an actress. I liked doing the effects, I liked writing, I liked having an idea and seeing it come to life. Doing this play is only the third time I've ever acted, doing the movie itself not included. I was the lead in one high school play and a supporting character in another high school play. And now performing in this magnificent hall in New York was starting to intimidate me!

"Come on Raven, you'll be fine. If your brother can get up in front of hundreds of thousands of people to act like a jackass half the time, you can get up and put on the most fabulous play this town's ever fucking seen!!" Shawnna stated, making me grin.

Thinking of my older brother usually helped calm my nerves. Sitting down sort of meditating also helped me. We had the 5 minute curtain call so my time to chicken out was now. But I couldn't. I didn't really have the "acting bug" as Chantal often called it, but I was extremely proud of my play and wanted to show it to the world.

"Ladies and Gentleman, Mr. Henry Davidson would like to thank you for coming out to see the premier of the play 'Animal I've Become' by Raven Crahan. Miss Crahan is a college Junior at the University of Iowa, Des Moine campus.

This play is spawned from a project she did, a movie to be exact, for one of her classes. Copies of the movie will be available for sale after the play. Now without further ado, enjoy the play."
I heard someone say on the other side of the curtain as we all took our places on stage.

CHAPTER 2

** RAVEN'S POV **
THE MORNING AFTER THE FIRST PERFORMANCE

My phone ringing is what woke me up. Rolling over I sleepily grabbed things on the nightstand until I grabbed what felt like my phone. Flipping it open I mumbled my hello making my friend Caleb laugh heartily. He was a year older than me and graduated last year. The lucky bastard earned a job working with the writing team for all 3 CSI's. He had sort of become Jerry Bruckheimer's right-hand man.

He asked me to have breakfast with him in the hotel restaraunt in about 45 minutes. I made him promise that he'd pay for it since he woke me up and was requesting MY presence. Laughing he quickly agreed and said that he'd see me downstairs in 45 minutes. Grumbling as I slid out of the very warm and comfortable bed, I headed to the massive bathroom to take a quick shower.

With a towel wrapped around my body and a towel wrapped around my head I walked out into the main room to dig through my bag for something to wear. Since I can only assume that it'll only be me and him I decide to wear something that reflects me and of course my hair was spiked to perfection with heavy dark black eyeliner on top and bottom, clear & shiny lip gloss and no other make-up:

Caleb was already waiting for me when I arrived. Along with about 4 other people, Mr. Davidson included. Upon seeing me, Caleb promptly got up and engulfed me in a tight hug. I smiled nervously at him as he pulled away.

"You're gonna like what this meeting is about." He whispered

"Miss Crahan! That play was marvelous. George says you wrote the screenplay yourself." Jerry Bruckheimer said as I sat down

"Let's get the introductions out of the way, Raven, this is Jerry, the lovely woman sitting next to him is Carol, you know George already, and this is Gary. Everyone, this is Raven." Caleb said making the formal introductions

"Caleb has told us what a huge fan you are of the CSI franchise." Carol chuckled

"Hehe, it's my favorite show." I replied, blushing

"Well after last night's performance we have a proposition for you." Jerry started making me glance at Caleb who was only smiling before going on, "We'd like to add you to CSI: NY as a new character."

"WHAT?!?!" I said, making almost everyone chuckle softly

"We've been wanting to add a new character for quite some time. When we finally started getting serious, Caleb said he knew someone that he thought would be perfect." Jerry replied quietly as the waitress walked up

I let this information sink in as everyone ordered breakfast. Once the waitress had everyone's order the group seemed to turn silent. Then Jerry and Carol began telling all about the opportunity being presented to me. As we sat there talking, Jerry and I began bouncing ideas off one another on how to bring this other character into the show.

Sometime during the middle of our meal, he brought out a legal pad and had begun scribbling out a script. Both he and Carol seemed really pleased and happy at my ideas and said that I may even wind up being a writer for the show. We had the basics of the episode all worked out, just had to flesh out the script.

After breakfast Jerry and Carol thanked me for joining the cast, although I'd never actually said yes or no. Jerry told me that they would be having a cast party the following night and that I should come so that I can meet my new co-workers and at least get to know them a little bit before we start working together. Gary and Caleb stood back while everyone else left the restaraunt.

"I look forward to seeing you on set. All the cast are really close, most of us usually have dinner together or go out for a drink after a good day of shooting." Mr. Sinise told me

"Well I'm looking forward to this too. I wasn't expecting to land a job with a hit TV show while I was here!"I chuckled nervously

"I bet! You're only in New York for a month, correct?" He asked me as Caleb ushered us out of the restaraunt

"Yeah. I'm not sure how things are going to go with school and shooting and everything else I've got going on, though." I confesssed, looking to Caleb

"Things will work out. Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow night." Gary exclaimed before pulling me into a friendly hug

"See you tomorrow night!" I smiled back at him

Caleb followed me up to the room I was sharing with Emily. She was still sleeping so we headed out to the balcony to chat. He told me how much he knew I would excell at this opportunity and how he knew I wouldn't be able to turn it down. Smiling at him I thanked him for ushering this opportunity my way. He winked at me signaling that he knew something that I didn't.

Now I began to think about this cast party tomorrow night. I'd be meeting the rest of the cast. At a party. Tomorrow night. Caleb sensing me apprehension promised he'd be there for "moral support". Then I began thinking about my favorite actor on the show and couldn't stop the smile from spreading to my face as I thought about him.
