Crime Lab - New York
9:14am March 12 2009

"ooh" groaned Lindsay, clutching her swollen belly
Stella's head snapped up at the sound of her friends voice "Linds you ok?"
momentarily distracted from the pain in her abdomen Lindsay looked up, pain and fear clearly etched on her pretty face "umm, yeah I'm..." before she could
finish her sentence however she grabbed her stomach again and looked down at the floor "oh no" she mumbled looking back up at Stella.
Stella followed her friends gaze to the floor and noticed the puddle at her feet, surprised she looked up at Lindsay who was looking at her, "oh my god..."
spinning around she yelled out to Adam who was sitting at a lab chair across the room "call an Ambulance", then to a lab tech that passed the door
"find Danny Messer, hurry!!", turning back to Lindsay who was now on the floor, Stella smiled "everything will be ok Linds".
As Stella was wiping the sweat from Lindsay's brow, the paramedics rushed in, stretcher between them, medical bag in the right hand of the first medic, a
caucasion man with short brown hair, brown eyes and an easy going smile, his name tag read Luke McGregor. "Mrs Messer, how are we feeling?" he looked
at Stella as another contraction hit, rendering Lindsay speechless. "she has been in labor since about 7am this morning, she is stubborn so didn't tell anyone.
Her contractions are about 3minutes...."
"AAAAAAARGH, WHERES DANNY!!" Lindsay screamed tears sliding down her cheeks
"he'll be here" soothed Stella
"ok lets get you to the hospital" announced Luke as he gestured for the other medic to help him set up the stretcher
"AAH, no the baby's coming now" she turned and gripped Stella's navy blue blouse "get Danny here now"
"He's coming" Stella lied, spinning round, her eyes seeking Adam, finding him hovering over near a computer a few desks away she yelled out to him" Adam,
find out where Danny is and get him here now" with a nod Adam ran from the room.

As Adam sped down the corridor past ballistics, past DNA and round the corner he walked head long into Detective Donald "Don" Flack,
head stuck in a file folder, neither noticing the other til they collided. rubbling his now sore head Adam looked up "have you seen Danny?"
Flack, who was rubbing his chin, looked confused " not for a while, he went out to Sandy Ridges about 2hours ago with Mac"
panic flicked across Adams face "thats over an hour away?" he visably paled.
"what happened? is everything ok?" Flack started to get a bad feeling
"Lindsay is in labor, they are taking her to the hospital "
"I'll call Danny, what hospital?" Flack asked simultaniusley opening his phone and hitting speed dial
"York Memorial, tell him to hurry" with that Adam dashed back the way he had come, whipping his own cell phone out in the process

"Bonesera"
"Stella it's Adam, I just spoke to Flack and Danny is out at Sandy Ridges with Mac, Flack is gonna call him, how's Lindsay?"
"He's never gonna make it back on time, Lindsay is having this baby now" Panic resonating in her voice
"He will be here as soon as he can"
"Thanks Adam, one more thing, would you be able to tell Sheldon, Sid and Jess, the four of you can meet me at the hospital, I am sure Flack is on his way"
"no worries, and Stella?"
"yeah"
"Tell Lindsay good luck!"
"will do, see you soon"
"yep" and they both clicked off as Adam headed down to the morgue and Stella went back to Lindsay

Flack swore loudly when he couldn't get through to Danny, closing his phone and opening it again he tried another familiar number
"Taylor"
"Mac its Flack, Danny with you?"
"yeah, we just finished processing, we're on our way back, why?"
"thank God" was all Flack managed
"Flack what is it?" Asked Mac his anxiety growing
"Lindsay is in labor, she is at York Hospital and is about to have the baby"
"consider us there" replied Mac
"see you soon" Flack could hear the siren blaring in the background as he clicked off

York Memorial

"AAAARGH" Lindsay screamed, squeezing Stella's hand
"okay, on the count of three I want you to push" encouraged Dr Montez
"AAAAAAAARGH" panted Lindsay
"okay the heads out, I can see the head" announced Monetz, beconing for the nurse to be prepared for the next push and the birth of the baby
"okay, one more push and you will get to meet you son/daughter"
"No, Danny isn't here, this baby isn't coming til I have Danny with me" She stubbornly shouted
"Linds, this baby is coming now, Danny is on his way, he'll be here" soothed Stella, wiping a cloth across Lindsay's sweaty forhead

Careening to a halt outisde the hospital, in record time, Danny and Mac jumped from the vehicle and sprinted inside, looking around they saw Flack, Sid, Sheldon and
Adam, all sitting in the hospitals uncomfortable waiting room chairs. Flack's head snapped up at the sound of a door opening, his eyes finding Danny and
Mac. He stood and before he had a chance to move Danny was at his side "how is she?, where is she?"
smiling Flack held up a hand to stop Danny's questioning "she is good, delivery suite 4 on level 6, good luck"

"OK, 1...2...3..." the doctor supplied
"AAAAAAAARGH" Lindsay panted grinding her teeth as she gave everything she had
"waaaaaaa" cries filled the room as baby Monroe-Messer was born. The time 11:14am
"congratulations it's..."
"no, please, I need Danny here" Lindsay cried as she looked at the impossibly small bundle in the doctors arms.
"Congratulations Lindsay" smiled Stella, squezzing her friends hand as the nurse cleaned up the baby.
"here you go mom" grinned Montez, placing the small baby on Lindsay's chest, tears of joy slid down Lindsay's cheeks as she strocked her newborn's soft
cheeks.
Lindsay's head snapped up when she heard the door fly open, there standing in the door way, goofy grin plastered to his face was Danny. Stella smiled at
Lindsay, squeezed her hand and walked over to Danny, giving him a hug, a peck on the check and congratulations, she then quietly left the room to give the
new parents time alone with their baby.
Danny gave Lindsay a gentle kiss on the forehead, leaning his against hers. "I love you Montana" he whispered
Silent tears rolled down Lindsay's pale sweat drenched face. "I waited" she smiled
"what for?" Asked Danny a little bewildered
"to find out" said Lindsay looking down at the life they created, Lindsay's gazed travelled from Danny to their baby several times and finally over to
Doctor Montez, Danny followed her gaze, both asking the same question.
"It's a girl" Smiling, Doctor Montez slipped out of the room
"She's beautiful Montana" praised Danny, voice thick with emotion
"She's your daughter Cowboy" laughed Lindsay
"What are we going to name her?" asked Danny stroking his little girls head
"Lucy" Lindsay suggested "Lucy Elisabeth" she added eyes sparkling
"it's perfect, thankyou Montana" Danny sniffed and all the tears he'd been trying to hide slowly made their way down his cheeks
"what for?" asked Lindsay, stroking her daughters cheek
"for our daughter, for naming her after my brother, for everything" Danny choked out
" I love you Danny Messer" she giggled
"I love you too Montana, and I love our little girl"
"do you want to hold her?" she asked, lifting her up gently, Danny nodded and smiled as he held his baby girl for the first time, swaying the baby back and
forwards in his strong arms, singing softly to his little girl, Danny started to cry as he took in every inch of his daughter. Her small tuft of brown hair, her
brown eyes, and her ears were definately Montana's but Lucy's mouth and nose were all Messer. Turning around Danny noticed that Lindsay had fallen
asleep, he bent down gave her a soft kiss on the forehead and took his newborn daughter to meet her family.

The door creaked as Danny walked through it and 6 heads snapped up to see what the noise was, bouncing out of their chairs upon realising it is Danny.
"How is she?" asked Stella
"she is wonderful, she's asleep at the moment" he smiled
everyone crowded around Danny and his child, all full of awe at how beautiful the little baby really was. She was wearing a small yellow onesie, with
matching white and yellow booties and hat.
"so...?" asked an excited Flack, gesturing at the baby
"I'd like you to meet my daughter" beamed Danny "When Lindsay is awake we will introduce you properly"

4hours later
York Memorial maternity ward Room 12

Lindsay, slowly opened her eyes, yawning as she stretched her arms above her head. rubbing her still tired eyes, she noticed the presence of people in her room
and opening her eyes properly she saw it was her family. Danny was sitting next to her in a large cushioned chair, talking to Flack and Jess who sat on the
window ledge beside him, their hands laced together, resting on Jess's knee. Sid was in the chair on the other side of Flack, deep in conversation with Adam and Sheldon who were sitting in chairs just behind him and to his right. Stella was sitting on the other side of Lindsay's bed, cooing at the beautiful little girl nestled securely in Mac's arms.
She wondered when they would realise they were made for each other. Everyone knew it, they all saw the looks and touches. They saw how broken Mac was after Stella was beaten and sexually assaulted by Frankie, how he immediatley offered her his home, when hers had burnt down. She was the first person he went to when he need to talk, cry or simply needed a friend. He was a different person when she was around.
Lindsay noticed Stella stealing glances at Mac as he held baby Lucy. She prayed that her two friends whould find the same happiness that she had found with Danny.

Lindsay lay there watching her family for awhile longer before Danny noticing her first, when he turned to say something to Mac, smiled at her, kissed her head and got
everyones attention by saying "good morning sunshine"
"Morning" she replied
"She's beautiful Lindsay, congratulations" grinned Mac, giving her a kiss on the head and gently placing the baby girl in her waiting arms.
smiling up at Danny, who nodded, she looked out at her friends, her family and announced "We would like for you all to meet Lucy Elisabeth Messer"

An hour later, everyone slowly rose to their feet, congratulated Danny and Lindsay and made their way out of the room, either heading home or into work. Mac, who was driving Stella home,
grabbed her coat and held it out to her, she smiled at him and allowed him to help her put it on, his hand lingering on her arm. They were lost in their own little world and Lindsay who had been watching the exchange, a huge smile plastered on her face, coughed exageratedly to get their attention. Their heads snapped in her direction as they automatically jumped apart. She glanced at Danny who looked up from Lucy and nodded at her, smiling as his gaze travelled back to his daughter. Lindsay looked at Mac and Stella, cleared her throat and began;
"Stella, I just want to say thankyou for everything you have done for me, for Lucy, I will be forever grateful that you helped bring her safely into the world" Stella leant forward and gave her a hug, "Mac, thankyou for bringing Danny home to me and for giving me the chance to work in New York, the chance to become a great CSI, the chance to be apart of your family. Danny and I would be honoured if you would be Lucy's Godparents" tears were welling up in her eyes again and as she looked at her friends she noticed the tears in their eyes as well.
"Oh My Goodness, of course I would, thankyou" Stella wrapped Lindsay in a tight hug and then leant over and gave Danny a kiss on the cheek.
"How bout you Mac?" asked Danny, lookng expectantly at his boss and friend
"it would be an honour" he replied, choking back a sob
"alright well we will leave you guys to bond with our Goddaughter" Stella hugged Danny and Lindsay goodbye and gave Lucy a soft kiss on the head, Mac following her lead. They quietly left the room.
"Do you think they'll ever realise what they mean to each other" Lindsay asked, as soon as the door colsed, flopping back on her pillows.
"ah, yeah I think so" Danny smiled, looking out the window in the hospital room. Lindsay follwed his gaze and saw Stella, reach out and take Macs hand in her own, they glanced at each other and smiled. Hands still entwined, they made their way out of the hospital. life was good, no, life was great.
"Looks like they got more than a Goddaughter today" Lindsay laughed, Danny chuckled, placing Lucy in Lindsay's arms, he slid on the bed next to her and they slowly drifted off to sleep, content in each others arms, their baby daughter resting against Lindsay's chest. A happy family, at last.



Authors note: I had this story written before we found out they were having a baby girl! I decided on the name Charlie Louis Messer, then changed it to Charlie Louise. I did this because Charlie is a gorgeous name and Louise is the femine form of Louis (Louie), Danny's brother who got badly beaten, in I think season 2. I have again updated it so Danny and Lindsay's little girl has the right name, Lucy. I added her middle name because I thought it would be beautiful and I love the name Elisabeth. Lucy Elisabeth sounds really elegent and classy and like it will age well. Sorry for any errors or inconsitencies. Hope you enjoyed it!
