Lindsay smiled as she heard the door of the bathroom open, she waited a few seconds, her breath held, then moved closer to the water pouring from the shower above. Steam filled the room. Danny pulled off his clothes and stepped over them into the shower, he could just about see her through the steam, he felt her warm hands pull him inward toward her under the hot water of the shower.
"Morning Danny" She said in her usual chirpy morning voice as he pulled her toward him, gently kissing her on the noise.
"Montana, you must be kiddin' me, its 4.30am" As he said this Danny reached for a sponge and began gently washing her back and shoulders.
"Danny" Lindsay said in her southern, mock disapproving voice
"How come we don't get the same shifts anymore huh?" he asked, more to himself than her.
"You know why, Mac said there would be consequences to us dating and I guess one of them is not being able to work together anymore" "Yeah, yeah, yeah I know, it just kinda sucks when I'm going to bed your going to work" Danny grumbled. "I know, but at least we have tomorrow" Lindsay said and smiled.
Danny put his arms around Lindsay, pulled her close to his chest, kissed her and whispered "hmm, tomorrow, what shall we do tomorrow Montana"
Lindsay stepped sideways, swapping places with Danny. She looked longingly at him as he ran his hands through his wet hair "I'm sure we can think of a few things to do tomorrow" she said with a grin as she pulled a towel around herself and climbed out the shower.

Danny woke to the noise of his phone vibrating against the bedside table. He stretched across the bed, found his glasses and the phone and pulled them both toward him. Silently cursing whoever was trying to contact him, he put on his glasses and focused on the phone, it was 10.30am. Danny hit the phone's call history button, which displayed missed calls from both Mac and Flack and an urgent message from Stella. Danny sat up and hit the speed dial for Mac, he waited whilst Mac's phone rang, trying to tell himself the feeling of uneasiness that was sweeping over him was unnecessary "Danny" Mac's voice over the phone interrupted Danny's thoughts "Mac, I gotta message from you and Stella" Danny hesitated as he asked "Is everything OK?" "Danny, where are you, I'm sending Flack to come and get you, its Lindsay, shes in the hospital"...

Danny was dressed and half way to the hospital before Flack had even left the precinct. When he arrived at the hospital he practically collided with Mac who was waiting for him in the ER reception area.
Mac couldn't help but smile at Danny. Over the last 2 years Mac and the rest of the team had watched what had started out between Danny and Lindsay as friendly rivalry become friendship and now, as cliche as it seemed, true love.
"Danny, I'm not going to ask how fast you drove to get here" Mac said, still smiling
"Where's Lindsay, is she OK, I want to see her" Danny said, still trying to get his breath back
"She's OK Danny, the doctors are going to keep her overnight for observation, but shes fine. She was following a lead at a fashion house with Flack and Hawkes, someone grabbed her from behind and tried to strangle her. Lucky for us Lindsay is pretty feisty, she fought the guy off and Flack arrested him, she's got a little bruising around her neck and her throat is a little sore, but apart from that she's fine"
Danny couldn't help but smile, partly in relief and party as he knew all too well how feisty Lindsay could be. "Come on" Mac continued, "lets go and see her"
